Adults can get involved too! We are always looking for volunteers that would like to work with young people, so if you have skills to share, or would like to learn new skills please get in touch. We have regular opportunities during the week, evenings and weekends, or you can be an occassional helper when we need extra help on a project.

Current Opportunities

Tracking Back – LookwideUK Heritage Project

LookwideUK (part of Northumberland Scouts) are currently engaged in a Heritage project in conjunction with South Tynedale Railway at Alston. We are restoring a derelict Mine Locomotive as a museum exhibit. The activity takes place on alternate Saturdays working with a group of young people from the Newcastle area. The project entails stripping down the loco, cleaning the parts, repainting and reassembly. In addition we will be photo/video recording progress, researching the history of the locomotive and producing information boards. The project will run through until summer 2014. No particular skills are required just enthusiasm and a sense of humour.

You will be working with 14-18 year olds, so an ability to relate to young people and a DBS will be required.

Please contact Dave or Nicky on 0191 251 4064, option 2, or david.smith@lookwide.org.uk
